The latest instalment of Black Acre bassizm offers further hard graft of Canada’s premier beat-machine DZ. ‘Stompa’ is a sonic jackhammer anthem of operatic proportions. The heavyweight kick-snare combo gallops along underneath DZ’s hectic synth riffage occasionally punctuated by a bowel rupturing bass drop. With his genre blending riddims DZ once again successfully smashes the dance without resorting to played out cliché. ‘Forward’ is a slice of rugged minimalism and already something of an underground myth, and it seems an age since DZ first linked with Roksteady to create this highly rated dubstep prototype.
