Geiom - Reminissin' (Skream & Shackleton Mixes!)

Reminissin' (Skream & Shackleton Mixes!) by Geiom

Nottingham producer Geiom’s ‘Reminissin’ is a 100% original song that sounds like an old friend from the first listen. It has all the hallmarks of a classic diva led house/garage tune without looking too much to the past, and has now been taken on by two of the underground’s most-wanted producers and turned into a cross-genre monster. Skream revisits the sound of his classic Big Apple releases and turns in a tough remix based around a catchy angular drum pattern and powerful bass stabs, taking the delicate synths from the original and toughening them up for a more grimey feel. Skull Disco head and visionary producer Shackleton takes a totally different route and uses only fragments of the vocal around which he weaves a long, slow, meditational stepper’s workout, more dub than dubstep (‘twas ever thus). The bassline is incredible, as he slows down the percussion and melodies from the original to devastating effect and takes the tune into mysterious darker territories that will be familiar to fans of his previous work.
