Them Use Them - We Live Like Children

We Live Like Children by Them Use Them

About Them Use Them Them Use Them is midlands based Artist Ben Sadler, his musical project Them Use Them has existed in various configurations for over eight years. Initial songs were made on a cheap 1980’s Yamaha keyboard, when the keyboard’s power adaptor stopped working Ben Sadler revived his father’s acoustic guitar, saved up for a laptop and began mining a sliver-like seam of gentle melancholy and woe. As well as making music Ben Sadler is a visual artist, one half of the art duo juneau/projects/ and co-founder of film and media company Jacaranda Pictures.  About We Live Like ChildrenWe Live Like Children is the first release by Them Use Them. The songs are deceptively bare, both lyrically and musically. Underlying this simplicity is a sense of heartache and heartbreak, a certain set of woes that draw upon the soundtracks of John Carpenter and the magic of Enya. Samples and clicks sit beside delicate guitars and fragile vocals like slow sketches for electronic pop songs. The album is mostly devoid of drums, drifting along on half remembered melodies and misreported moments. Death, devotion and loss fill the lyrics, almost uplifting in their melancholy seam, like a wedding singer after the party.
