It's funny how much music around at the moment sounds like completely incidental stuff, like it's been accidentally recorded in a quiet room next door to a noisy rock gig. I went to the bog at a drum & bass night last Saturday & seriously, the sheer otherworldly ricocheting racket emanating from the rattling walls was deliriously brilliant, much better than the junglist mayhem ensuing inside the club. I stayed in there for 10 minutes till I got rescued by a concerned & amused friend. Stefan Kushima describes his sound as "Gravity boredom" & originates from Austria. He does that wonderful thing that Belong did on their recent lo-fi feedback platter & crystallises the potential sonic fall out of bands such as MBV & Spiritualized into a disembodied tribal squall that sounds like a million seagulls dying in a bin. If that sounds awful, you've totally missed my point. It's frankly brilliant gear, very earthy & spiritual. Spots remind me of The Walkmen's clanging lobe rinsing from a few years ago, but from UNDER the stage, nor totally distorted, just stuck in a spiraling haze that transcends mere dirge. This sound is very alive & loose, the way guitars SHOULD sound. if anyone has ever heard of Medusa Cyclone a lone American who made some real sludgy out rock drone in the 90's and beyond then this is the heir to his lonely throne. Maybe this is the apex of the idiotically coined "shitgaze", I dunno, but it fucking rules & I wanna go real tantric & float in the air with my eyes closed whilst this meditative racket spills out all over my face. Wonderful! 'Don't Touch the Walls' is on a black CDr on erm...Blackest Rainbow with FREE FINGERPRINT!

What their label says...
Kushima is a nearly 23 year old experimental visual and audio artist from Linz, Austria. On his debut release for Blackest Rainbow he creates minimal bliss wavering drones with minimal metallic vibes and fuzzed glows washing in and out. Sounds like Stefan was making these sounds somewhere in space or deep in the ocean and somehow it got recorded far away from the actual source. Its a real blissful nice gem from yet another unknown artist out there in the ether. Comes in classic BR sleeve designed by Stefan.
