Didn't know what Shout Out Louds are like but having thrown 'Our Ill Wills' at the stereo and screamed at the failing Japanese technology till it reluctantly trundled into life, i'd say these Swedes make perfectly palatable indie pop with a mature thoughtful edge that's been compared to the Cure & the Shins. It's all masterfully assembled & very catchy, like bird flu. So nothing original but if yr a fan of scando-pop & radio friendly guitar anthems then I think these chaps will appeal. It's all a little commercial for this bitter & jaded man-boy (i can hear the likes of A-Ha in there somewhere!) but you can't fault tunes this full & focussed, buzzing with ideas & stuffed with great melodies.

Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, Shout Out Louds have toured with the likes of Kings Of Leon, The Strokes (at their request), Magic Numbers and Secret Machines and make tender, timeless, beautiful, completely relevant pop music.  Released on the 12th of May and produced by Björn Yttling (Peter,Bjorn and John) ‘Our Ill Wills’ is the band’s second studio album, following up the critically acclaimed ‘Howl Howl Gaff Gaff’.  The first single from the album ‘Tonight I Have To Leave It’ is released on the 14th of April and has Yttling’s trademark percussion based sound all over it, working to great effect.  The album features the distinctive and charming boy/girl vocals of lead singer Adam and keyboardist Bebban,
combining hypnotic echo chamber drumming with sweeping string and piano arrangements alongside a more regular bass and guitar line up. The resulting sound is a joyful mix of spectoresque 60s chamber pop via 80s indie with contemporary lyrical concerns thrown in for good measure! Later this year sees the band head to the USA with dates at SXSW and Coachella followed by a return to the UK with multiple festival slots expected.
