The rollercoaster of great releases continues this year with a cracking CD by Bleeding Heart Narrative. Firstly the packaging is ace....It's in a brown cardboard sleeve all stitched together with a big cocking jellyfish on the cover. Genius. Inside is a poster booklet thing which is also stitched and rather fantastic looking. It's limited to 200 copies 'n all. I'm gonna keep this one short and sweet as we have squillions to review today in no time whatsoever. Layered cellos, pianos and all mixed together with a general eerie drone. It's dark and light....happy and sad..... incredibly emotive and one one of the most interesting records we've heard here in a long long time. It pricked up the collective office ears which is rare thing these days. Will appeal to fans of Hood, Stars of The Lid, early Constellation releases. This is seriously good. The press release for this is spot on so read it on the item page as it does it way more justice that I ever could in this limited time frame. 'All That Was Missing We Never Had In The World' is CD only on the Tartaruga label.

What their label says...

all that was missing we never had in the world is the debut release from bleeding heart narrative, based in London, UK. Working with layered cellos, repeating piano melodies, hushed vocals and mutant textures of sound and noise, bleeding heart narrative has constructed a unique, haunting and compelling album.

Belying the often dense and complex composition, bleeding heart narrative is the work of sole composer, artist and producer Oliver Barrett. The sounds of doors slamming, chairs creaking, or fingers scraping against strings can sometimes be heard above the carefully arranged composition. This is a fundamental part of the recording process, and reflects the working method and aesthetic of bleeding heart narrative. An important essence of the record is the capturing of those elements of music that can not be planned in advance. To call them mistakes would be a misnomer, yet there is an appeal to the beauty and authenticity of musical ‘accidents’.

This album covers a broad spectrum of the sound of bleeding heart narrative, which is matched by the intricate and detailed artwork and packaging, all designed and drawn by the artist. Produced in a highly limited run of just 200 copies, each copy comes in a hand-assembled, individually numbered card-bound case, with a custom-designed foldout insert and a unique Polaroid photograph.

This release is the first on new label Tartaruga Records, also based in London, UK. Working closely with a select range of artists, this release marks the advent of a limited series, with four CDs due out in 2008. With a particular focus on the physicality of each release, Tartaruga believes that the changing nature of music production towards digital means of distribution, rather than signalling a decline in the appreciation of tangible artefacts, conversely strengthens the need to put more attention in to a physical release.

Initially available solely in this limited edition of 200 copies, digital versions will follow later. Each CD is packaged in a thick gatefold sleeve, constructed from 18pt recycled cardboard. This has been silkscreen printed, hand stamped, and sewn together. A similar level of attention has been put on the foldout insert, made from thick paper and card, and sewn together, complete with Polaroid photo.
