From the brief listens we've had in the office, this ambitious double CD opus seems to take its cue from traditional Celtic folk musics and the more experimental production techniques afforded by the growth of new music technologies. By turns melancholic, warm and cinematic, some of the tunes are guitar led with simple melodies backed up with drones, tones, washes of voice and strings with elements of field recordings. The lead singer's voice reminds our man at the helm of Mark Hollis of Talk Talk. For fans of the fashionable trend for folk as much as the droning rock that has come to prominence in the last couple of years. It's a bit long for me as an album and i'm more in favour of the instrumental tracks. A strong collection none the less and a bargain if this is your thing.

What their label says...

World Winding Down Info -
This album has been over two years in the making and as well as featuring members of live ARP lineups it has contributions from Mirakil Whip, Sharron Kraus, Phosphene, Allison O'Donnell (ex Mellow Candle), Richard Moult, Maya Elliott (Current 93), Richard Skelton and many more.
This album sees ARP back in singer/songwriter mode but there are also stark instrumentals, field recordings and atmospheres woven into this album representing the more ethereal ARP.
It's a work of spectral, cyclical luminescence - one and a half hours of desolate soundscapes and gossamer threaded heartbreak. If you can imagine Red House Painters playing with Fursaxa you'd be close to the mark. The album features a Roy Harper approved version of 'Another Day'  and a host of ARP live favourites -
All That Fall, World Winds Down,Shorelines Clad in Snow, and 23 others!
ARP BIO -

The long-time project of Midlander and Deserted Village lynchpin Dave Colohan, Agitated Radio Pilot is just as often a sprawling multi-piece orchestra as it is Dave alone with only his guitar and voice. But regardless, ARP makes music of stark sadness, melancholic warmth and the sound of the forest. He's brought his personal vision of folk to just about everywhere in Ireland and has played alongside such acts as Johnny Moynihan, Charalambides, Josephine Foster, Andy Irvine, Jack Rose, Sunroof!, Fursaxa, Sharron Kraus and many others...Dave is or has been a member of other such projects as Enclosed & Silent Order, United Bible Studies, The Driftwood Manor, The Magickal Folk Of The Faraway Tree, Cubs, Murmansk, Holt, Lost Roman Legions, Team Discovery Channel, Arkhangelsk, Townparks Foundry, Children Of The Stones, Lodern and others too shady to mention & will never let a band get in the way of a good band name...
