Apalusa: 'Wires and Knives' (Low-Point) Is a five track self-released effort recorded in a home (bedroom?) studio last summer. The first track 'The Holy Goat', tinkles and chimes building to a crescendo of added drones and tones concluding as it begun. The second track 'AP.II' starts out like one of Gier Hansen's (Biosphere) ghostly North Pole icy ambience- all glistening tones and micro textures. The rest of the three tracks trundle along like Polar Bear fluff blown across the icy tundra by the harsh North Wind, the tones get deeper, darker with a little distorted stactic in the mix, all coming to a dramatic wave crashing end. Fans of Machine Fabric, Biosphere or even the generative/serial style of ambient championed by Eno et al will enjoy the float.

What their label says...

‘Wires and Knives’ is the second release from Apalusa, aka Nottingham
musician Dan Layton.

Composed during time-out between European and UK tours with the band
Souvaris, this 37 minute, 5 track album reveals a clear progression from
the music established on his warmly received debut ‘Small Environs’,
released earlier in 2007.  Music boxes, voices and distortion are just
some of the new elements appearing alongside processed guitar and piano within these songs, adding a dark twist to the euphoric nature of the compositions.

Cdr packaged in a PVC sleeve with full colour wrap-around artwork. Ltd edition of 100 copies.
