If you fancy summat new check out the Dead Pilot CDR which come is a nice
handmade package all wrapped up in string like what fancy people do when they
give you fancy presents. I don't know anyone like that. I'd be lucky if I got a
piece of string full stop.... (tiny violins...) Anyway the Dead001
Compilation is an exploration into post rock/ avant rock and noisy rock....
ie lots of stinking rock. Cool...I like to kick it back sometimes. The 9
tracks duck and dive between the differing styles but it gels together nicely
and if you fancy something unheard of and you want to support grass roots gear
this is your momma.

What their label says...
Dead Pilot Records is an independent (DIY) record label run out of a
bedroom in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire UK producing short run CD-R
releases in various experimental/rock/ambient & electronic genres;
sticking to strict DIY ethics, making hand/home made releases (we never
use jewel cases) priced as cheaply as possible.
Dead Pilot was
born in March 2007, out of a love for alternative and experimental
music and the new DIY ethics that were sweeping across many artists and
labels. It is run by Daniel Gregory, with help from family&friends
and all the artists involved.

DEAD001 is the debut release for Dead Pilot Records, featuring many
fantastic up and coming artists. The CD begins with opener “Across
Wind-Swept Expanses”, by brother & sister duo Wires, who present a
haunting yet hopeful guitar and violin collage. Message to Bears
provides the brilliant “Unfold” taken from his now sold out EP1 (expect
a re-release soon), followed by the Indie-Math-Pop of Instruments who
have recently played with the likes of Cats&Cats&Cats and Tired
Irie. Local group 1877 follow on with “Conversation in a Cheap Room”; a
mass of post punk energy and post rock climaxes. Ekca Liena provides
you with the soundtrack to late nights with the fantastic “Fire
Emerging from Mist”; an epic ambient track that grows from pads and
guitar strums to what can only be described as a huge wall of fuzz. The
Soul’s Release, who recently released a very limited hand made edition
of his first EP, provides us the internet fav “Dripping Whispers”; a
calm and collected ambient guitar piece which recalls the likes of
Sigur Ros and Eluvium. Men as Trees up the stakes and take us from laid
back indie rock to heart wrenching screamo; with a build up and climax
that will stick with you for months., with their track “Scenes from a
Voyage”, taken from their debut album release digitally from via their
own label Diajoube records. HateHeart take us one step further with
tech metal riffs, stomping drums and distressed vocals with the short
but sweet “Dust in the Eye” and When The Tigers Broke Free (now known
as LUNGS) bring us right back round to the start again with the bleak
“Farewell…! Farewell…!”.
