The vast majority of the recent DFA output has had me gurning so much I’ve had to be admitted to hospital to get my face put right (nope not in the bed next to indietronica…..). Let’s face it folks… it’s largely been shit. Well done EMI for getting on about a year too late. So we have a new 7” in by PRINZHORN DANCE SCHOOL which is DFA’s first new signing for ages. And I have to say it’s a goodie. There’s some slacker elements of The Fall in there in it…. A nice lazy bass, some really old sounding drums and some scratchy sounding guitars carry this along nicely to what amounts to actually being a decent 7”. After hearing this you’d be perfectly within your rights to question if it’s not really from 25 yeas ago.

“Coming off as both magically attuned and profoundly alone, Tobin Prinz and Suzi Horn bait each other like two sides of the same brain.  With stripped-down vocal harmonies that allude to hooks without straining for them.”  - pitchforkmedia.com

‘You Are the Space Invader’ is the third single from Prinzhorn Dance School’s critically acclaimed debut album.
In keeping with the last two singles this record is extraordinarily sparse. A pent-up blast of rock minimalism. Distended drums, strident hook-laden bass, spiky guitars and those distinctive vocals.  There is no room on this record for anything that doesn’t work: every word, hi-hat, bass thump and wiry single-string guitar line becomes an event. And, damn it, Prinz and Horn own that shit. This record shouts out at you from somewhere new. And if you let these songs into your head, you will never get them out.

The single package will also include exclusive brand new b-sides plus the Optimo remix. Optimo (JD Twitch and his remix partner Dave Clark) have given a respectfully new take on the track.  Undeniably dance floor friendly, this is sure to be top of every dj’s play list. And if it’s not, it should be.
