Troubadours: 'Gimme Love' (Mod Art Sounds) Just as the nights are
drawing in and the clocks go back again, these mop-top popsters decide
to provide us with some breezy summertime themed pop. The sound is all
jangly and upbeat with vocals to the fore, naive and innocent in it's
approach but carefully crafted and carried off with great aplomb. Not
exactly breaking any new ground, this retro fixated brand of pop-not
that dissimilar to The Coral-has a bold simplicity that has 'classic'
and 'inspired' written all over it. Judging by the pre-orders we've had
for this it could be huge. A possible tip for the top sez Mr Phil. You
heard it her first...fans of the LA's and North West Coast (of England)

What their label says...
It’s a marriage made in guitar pop heaven. Take The Troubadours - a gang of four early 20’s Wigan and Liverpool lads who’ve been rapidly building a reputation as one of the north west’s most exciting new bands. Put them together with esteemed producer John Leckie, famed for his work with the likes of the Stone Roses, Radiohead and Pink Floyd amongst many others, and the first results are ’Gimme Love - a soaring, shimmering debut single that manages to channel the band’s love of Beefheart, Love and The Seeds and the best bits of their hometown’s tune-rich musical heritage into four minutes of perfect pop. The Troubadours are: Mark Frith - vocals, guitar, piano, harmonica; Johnny Molyneux - lead guitar; Tony Ferguson - bass; Nathan Watts - drums 7" Limited to 500, CD limited to 1000.
