Bearsuit are a tremendous band. The more I hear them the more bonkers and crazed I think they are. They make some the wonkiest lunacy I've ever heard. Here's their new album 'Oh io' which is chocka full of crazed indie pop tunes that swirl and slide all around the place. There's something disturbing about this band. At times it can be sickly and sweet but round the corner there's a knifeman (or knifewoman... equal opportunities and that) ready to stab your head off and vomit melody down your headless corpse. I think that's the most repulsive sentence I've ever written. Still that's what needs to happen if you want to join Bearsuit so don't wear your posh best. Heartily recommended and if Peel were alive he'd be loving this.

What their label says...

Championed by the likes of Huw Stevens, Rob da Bank, Phil Jupitus and Drowned in Sound amongst others, Bearsuit have established a loyal fanbase for their crazy live shows. Firm faves of the late John Peel, Bearsuit managed to clock up five different Peel sessions within two years.Bearsuit’s recent single ‘More Soul Than Wigan Casino’ was Single Of The Week in The Guardian Guide. What the critics are saying: “Colourful, wacky… pop hotchpotch… Imagine Do Me Bad Things having a good fight with Belle & Sebastian at a fairground… on ‘shrooms… in the dark. Yes, really” – NME.   “Shimmering pop with all the soul of early Belle & Sebastian” – Clash. “Louder than an explosion in a fireworks factory… often within the space of a single number, accordion, flute, cornet, violin, theremin and a number of percussion instruments are banged, blown, squeezed and thrummed. It’s an uproariously joyful noise” – Artrocker.
