Now Santa Dog which is a girl fronted pop band with imagination and melody sensibilities. Out on Quince records it carries the name Kittyhawk and sounds very cheeky indeed. Some really cool jangly guitar work. Think Camera Obscura, The Sundays, The Cardigans..... Yeah all them twee swing ya ra-ra skirt bands... Pretty pop.

What their label says...

Santa Dog play sparkly, sassy, summer-soaked pop with chiming guitars and a sinister perimeter. Think Blondie going two rounds with the Smiths on the edge of a cliff with a stiff breeze whipping up skirts and causing mischief and you're still nowhere near capturing the band's distinctive sound and uniquely English charm.

The band self-released 3 EPs in 2005/06. With no budget for manufacturing, press or PR, the band instead made short CDr batches with handprinted sleeves and sent copies and MP3s to bloggers, and fanzines that they liked all over the world. This grassroots approach resulted in a whole new fanbase and the EPs went as far and wide as Indonesia, Japan, Australia, Canada, USA, Germany & Austria. Radio play followed, first internet stations, a feature on NPR, followed by BBC Radio 1, XFM, Kerrang and college campus radio in the USA & Canada.

The band were approached by Quince Records (Japan) at the end of 2006 who offered to release their debut album and SoundsXPerience (London) offered to release the debut single, resulting in a welcome reprieve from having to print, cut out and stick together any more handmade CDs for the time being.
