New Young Pony Club are one of these trendy major label corporate attempts to empty your wallet and turn into fun for shareholders. This is electro pop almost like a watered down Peaches without the downright smut for the masses. If that floats your boat then get on board. What do I think? I kind of don't mind it which unsettles me a bit though it does whiff of cheese...

Live favourite and Intel advert soundtrack “Ice Cream”, the New Young Pony Club anthem, gets a full release on July 2nd followed by the release of their debut album, Fantastic Playroom, which promises to be one of the most exciting records of the year (early album reviews Uncut 4*, OMM 4*, Q 4*).

The demand for New Young Pony Club is fever pitch and the three girls and two boys, (including the NME Cool List lead singer and provocateur, Tahita) are setting the world alight with their brand of disco-embellished pop, picking up diverse fans such as David Bowie, Tiga, Klaxons, Lily Allen and LCD Soundsystem along the way. Stella McCartney is also a fan, and just flew NYPC out to play at the launch of her first Asian store in Hong Kong

Intent on establishing something distinctly potent and exciting, Andy and Tahita formed NYPC in 2005. Now a five-piece with the additional members, Igor (bass) Lou (keyboards) and Sarah (drums), New Young Pony Club provide the kind of tight and bass-heavy future discoid noise currently setting hairs on end up and down the country.

NYPC have quietly set their world alight with a swell blend of disco, pop and punk, and are currently on their first headline tour of the UK (a sold out tour - in London at Koko 1500 tickets were sold on the back of just 2 singles). They will be performing at all the main Summer Festival including the mainstage at o2 Wireless in London.

‘Ice Cream’ is a sparsely minimal punk funk jerkout that sounds like a distaff version excursion on disco-era Rolling Stones fronted by the Slits’ Ari Up and produced by David Byrne and Brian Eno.
