I thought that the Slit Jockey Records Mixtape Volume One kicked ass. It's perfect for spinning in your motor vehicle. This morning a package from the label arrived with the last remaing copies of that mix along with DEV 79 Presents Street Bass Anthems. A wicked mix of exclusive remixes and blends. This is a botty shakin party mix. I can see the butts workin' overtime to this one and it's cheap as chips as well so you have no excuse.

Love this record? Hate it? Tell us.

After the success of last year's Slit Jockey Mixtape, Dev79 is back with another round of fire. Street Bass Anthems is a collection of all exclusive remixes and blends, in an un-mixed compilation style mixtape. This CD is chock full of bangers from Dev79 and associated gang members, such as Starkey (Trouble & Bass, Werk Discs), Edu K (Brazillian MC on Man Records), Stumble, BD1982, Generic Man, DJ Skipmode (Ill Vibe Collective, Electric City) and more.

Street Bass Anthems is a new mixtape series that Dev79 and Starkey, of Philadelphia's Seclusiasis crew, have conceived. They will be alternating on presenting the CD's, with Starkey's Volume 2 slated for a June 2007 release. This series will be showcasing the Street Bass sound and will be primarily featuring tracks from DJ's and producers in the Philly area. "Street Bass" is their unique interpretation of the various bass heavy urban musics floating around the world right now. Starkey says, "It's our Philly-centric approach to mixing up the sounds we hear as DJ's and the blend of sounds we use in our productions." But lets not get lost here, as Dev79 says "It's def about the club. And we wanna see bitches shakin' their asses on the floor!" These Street Bass Anthems CD's are geared towards DJ's, by providing ammo for the dancefloor, but care has also been taken to make it a dope listen straight through as a compilation, to the average music fan.

Dev79, aka Gair Marking, is the full on producer, DJ, promoter that you need and want. His brash performances keep dancefloors raw and sweaty throughout Philadelphia and beyond. With a deep selection of underground urban sounds you'll find him droppin' hip hop, grime, ghettotech, dancehall, electro and more. Dev79 has left his stains on a number of releases over the years from labels such as Slit Jockey, Sonicterror, Zenapolae, Sozialistischer Plattenbau, and others. Be on the lookout for more of his productions, including the remix of Starkey's "Pins" (appearing as the final track on Street Bass Anthems) to be released on vinyl from the Dead Homies label soon.
