SPRAYDOG have been going for years now. 10 years in fact. Has it really been that long? You'll be pleased to know their sound is still early 90's indie rock bringing to mind Tenage Fanclub, Charlottes, My Bloody Valentine and that kind of guitar funnery. Simple tunes, nice discordant guitars and that. If you're in your mid 30's and are thinking indie music isn't as good as it was back in the early 90's then check this out cos it will make you feel all young again. Karate Summer Camp is CD only.

What their label says...

Ten years together and they still come up with the goods. Their fuzzy lo-fi boy-girl formula sounds as fresh as ever on their latest offering with these fourteen new tracks.

Spraydog formed in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NorthEast England, in 1996 from the thriving local lo-fi/punk/diy scene, and soon made an impact with their somewhat shambolic yet captivating live shows. Their first 7” Lemonade came shortly after on their own Ferric Mordant label, and was quickly noticed and played by Radio One’s John Peel, bringing the band to the attention of the wider UK indie scene, leading to more releases on a variety of labels, and two Peel Sessions for the BBC.

Like a mighty oak, the band continue their creative path while other groups, styles and musical fads come and go. Early 2007 sees the release of the band’s fifth album ‘Karate Summer Camp’ (Ferric Mordant Fe8) following the Allison Blaire 7” (Nirfa records)

“Spraydog are a five piece from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. They have a lo-fi, high energy thing goin' on and 'Allison Blaire' is their latest single release. It's lo-fi stylee gives a kinda 'live' feel. Full of fuzzed up guitars rattlin' along against superbly punctuating percussion work, thumpin' bass and lazy sounding vocals it glides somewhat silkily along - against all the odds. There's no frills, no pretensions here - just a cleverly worked, neo-punk edged piece with great appeal. The lazy feeling vocals work well against the energetic instrumentation; it's raw overtones almost contradict the slick melody and chorus resulting in a pretty commercially viable track.” – www.toxicpete.co.uk

“Fuzzy, aching guitars, supple bass, heart-attack drums, just yer usual quietly assured magic. Buy this. 4.5/5” – Melody Maker

“…spikey self-assured pop dynamics and scant regard for the foibles of a bloated industry… 7/10”  - NME

“If they were from Glasgow they would be seen as the saviours of guitar pop, or something.” - Abuse
