Maps have signed to Mute
and we have some upfront copies of their debut full length album We Can
Create. It's released properly in a couple of weeks I believe. Anyway
I've heard this a few times now and I can confirm this is a great debut
album. Pop is the word here. It's super poppy catchy electro indie pop
but
where We Can Create stands above the other wannabes is the Maps boys clearly have an ear for a melody and know what how to make a decent tune. Who they sound like??
Maps! That's who they sound like! This is perfect pop music and will appeal to fans
New Order, Dntel and Death Cab For Cutie. Though it's not all sweet pop as there' some weird crazy wonky sounds going on in there as well. Heartily recommended!!

What their label says...
We have limited early stock of the essential debut album from MAPS, 'We Can Create', in stock from Monday 16th April. This hugely ambitious, widescreen and epic record recalls everything from the skewed songwriting of Postal Service, Flaming Lips and Spiritualized, the euphoric sound-scapes of Sigur Ros and My Bloody Valentine, to the electronics of Boards of Canada and Ulrich Schnaus. Click HERE for a free download of the album track 'Elouise' to see why NME have called them "one of british music's brightest hopes for 2007" and why Clash magazine declared the album to be " One of the records of 2007 so far? Almost certainly".
