New on Alien 8 is a strand of what I term the New Goth. Nadja's "Touched" continues the field ploughed by the likes of those other heavy romantics: Sunn, Earth etc. Swirling-drift, led washes developing into doom laden claustrophobic drone tones with an under laying nod towards some sort of melodic structure. I've just been informed that they're more like Jesu and it's apparent throughout that they meld the histrionics of "shoegazing" with the darkness of our times.

What their label says...

Alien 8’s second release by the up and coming ambient doom band Nadja. Imagine Sunno))) meets Swans. It’s that heavy. And that good.
Nadja is Aidan Baker and Leah Buckareff. Baker, the project’s founder is an insanely prolific musician under his own name and has released solo work for such prestigious labels as Germany’s Die Stadt, as well as countless CD and
CD-R releases all over the world.
As well as being influenced by the like old Swans/Earth, Nadja take inspiration from artists hailing from the dark
ambient and electronica fields such as ambient noise artists Fennesz or Justin K. Broadrick’s Jesu project. Like the
previous release ‘Truth Becomes Death’, ‘Touched’ is ambient music being pushed to it’s breaking point.
Nadja have recently toured or opened for the likes of ISIS, Khanate, Tim Hecker, Troum, Fear Falls Burning, Helios Creed and the End among countless others.
