Hailing from Northampton, England, itself just a short space hop from Rugby, the mythical home to eminent space psych heavyweights, Spacemen 3 and Spiritualized and the musical equivalent of Area 51, to the X-File-phobes among you.  Where prior to Slipstream Refoy cut his teeth as a member of both these legendary ensembles, appearing on Spacemen 3’s final album ‘Recurring’ before space walking to join the cosmic crew of Jason Pierce and Spiritualized. Elegant guitar signatures romance the inner senses creating a calming sea like tranquillity, all the while instilling a sensation of travelling on a single seated galactic roller coaster across the universe, intoxicated by the ebb and flow of the hypnotic kaleidoscope textures, colourful, tender, charming and tripping.  From the opening track, the sensually touching ‘Everything and Anything’ to the Stylus like hollowed atmospherics of ‘Claire’s ghost’ featuring the narration talents of comic book writer, Alan Moore (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen), ‘Transcendental’ explores and utilises feelings, styles, imaginations and tempers them to sublime effect. The dreamy drone sultriness of ‘Sophie’s blues’, the awesome magnificence of ‘Tonight’s the night’ parading a fusion of the Dream Academy and the musical ‘Cats’, the space blues of ‘Midnight train’, the Lennon / Lloyd Cole –isms of ‘I know nothing’ and the monumental Bunneymen-esque driving 60’s psyche apocalyptic groove of ‘Deep in the night’. A perfect cruise control companion for the dreamers and spaced out cadets. Finally to give one last special touch to Transcendental, Refoy invited respected fellow artist, Jon Attwood, AKA Yellow 6, to do some exclusive extended remixes for the album, Y6 working his unique trademark mastery of magic and sonic terraforming onto the proceedings to breathtaking expectations!
