Dunno how yr supposed to shoehorn the history of one record label into a "megamix" but some chap reportedly from THE EARLIES has done just that with Static Caravan's back catalogue. Van 100 was a limited 100 only lathe cut single last year but it sold out in minus 5 minutes before anyone had thought of it. Redressing the balance is the CD version (still called Lost In The Edit) , 250 copies, a lot of which have been distributed to the bands featured. It's an
audacious idea really. But it works brilliantly as a sublime sound collage, an introduction to the label & more importantly displays just how visionary & special this rabidly
independent Midlands imprint is. Truly pioneering in the world of lo-fi electronics, experimental folk & bedroom pop, Static Caravan is one of "our" labels. Shady Bard captured the essence of the label by pronouncing it's founder Geoff as "a genius" when i chatted to them. A humble svengali who in this post Peel age keeps the underground flame a-burning brightly! SOTW because of everything.
