I'll be leaving the world of commercial indie music (thankfully) and delving into the world of sonic exploration courtesy of Vintermusik by Dag Rosenqvist and Rutger Zuydervelt. You probably haven't heard of them but they are in fact Jasper TX and Machinefabriek. This is a self released CDR in an edition of just 200 copies. It takes a good minute to start up before you can hear the nice gentle electronic pulsing droning on the stereo.... It builds and builds but never gets too much. There's cracks and fizzles aplomb with some lovely melodies chucked hither and thither. Initially I thought it was pretty abstract but after listening more it's a very coherent strong release. Recommended!

What their label says...

So here it is, the soundtrack to your winter.

Dag Rosenqvist and Rutger Zuydervelt. That's what their friends call them. But you might know them as Jasper TX and Machinefabriek, whom both released albums on the young Lampse label.

This collaboration should come as no surprise. They both create music filled with guitar-driven ambient and crackling noise elements, ranging from melancholic dreamscapes to creepy horror-soundtracks.

This is a duo recording yes, but Dag and Rutger have never actually met. Thanks to the almighty force called the internet they were able to send eachother raw sounds, to be used, transformed or destroyed.

And so 'Vintermusik' came alive, like Frankenstein, stitched together from processed material that was sent back and forth between Sweden and The Netherlands.

So 'Vintermusik' it is.
Wintermusic.
And that's what it sounds like. Cold and foggy like a dark winter-evening, yet warm and comforting at the same time; like woolen mittens to warm your freezing hands.

It's gonna be a beautiful winter.
