Old muckers of Stewart A, Leeds' very own Hood (they were 555's very first band!) have two comprehensive retrospectives out on the burgeoning Misplaced Music of Pudsey, Leeds. The original shambling indie pioneers, these two fascinating CDs highlight how they've staggered from No-Fi indie racketeering ala Pavement/Dead C/Thinking Fellers to more subtle Anglo-folk inflected beauty later on. Gasp in wonder at the blossoming sensitivity & groundbreaking structures and more out there influences as the discs progress. The first, 'Singles Compiled' features a 2nd CD of mostly unreleased stuff as well as the impossible to find 7"s on Rocket Racer, Earworm & 555 on CD1. The other CD compiles most of the tracks used on compilations from around the world so is absolutely indispensible to the hardened Hood fan (lots of you out there!) Both serve as an ideal accompaniment to the 'Structured Disasters' comp on Happy Go Lucky. Leeds' most enduring band methinks (longer serving than The Wedding Present even) and still endearingly young!)

What their label says...

Singles Compiled does just that and collects all the bands out of print singles between 1995 and 1998. A follow up in a way to Structured Disasters. Due to the vast amount of material this double CD includes 15 previously unreleased tracks (denoted below with an asterisk) and an eight page booklet with liner notes by the band. The music veers wildly between lo–fi pop, acoustic electro experiments, avant noise and expansive post rock and is essential for any discerning fan.
