Brian's idea of a joke is pressing play on THE GUILLEMOTS 'Of
The Night' EP turning it up really loud and then leaving the room. Well
the joke has back-fired on him as he's just come back into the room and
told me he actually likes the track 'She's Evil'. It's like
Nine Inch Nails lite. Definitely the darker side of this
schizoid band. The EP continues with 'The Rising Tide' which is a
miserable depressing soul searching tune with nifty glockenspeil. They
even get a touch experimental on 'Bad Boyfriend' utilising feedback and
then into some complex rhythms. I think this band are for people who
liked safe music but are into these to fill the alternative void in
their collections,
thus appearing dangerous when their wine drinking buddies come round to
play Scrabble. I was expecting something far more commercial sounding
from. It wonders off into academic avant garde territory but comes
across as sounding more contrived than pure self expression. Digi-pak
CD only on
Fantastic Plastic.
