Ho ho ho.... what a beauty this be. From the off this hits you where it hurts. Where to start eh?? Well it's a cross breed of electronica and post rock. I can hear bits of Lucky Pierre (without the cheese) and it reminds me a lot of some of the early Melodic records before they started releasing records by Nine Black Alps (got to make a living somehow I guess..). This is really sublime stuff with lots of acoustic guitar, weird disturbed sounding vocals, electronic wooshes, tinkly pianos, crazy samples and all kinds of goodness to delight. There's so much warmth in this album you can chuck your radiators away this winter and sit huddled around this. You'll save yourself squillions. If you liked the recent Northstation and Jonquil albums you'll be loving this. Get a nice suit of armour on and get prepared to be crushed from the greatness within. Listen to it here! - Phil

What their label says...
Reigns A duo of brothers from the Somerset/Dorset borders, previously both of them were in Christmas with Rob Ellis. One of them toured the world for 18 months as guitarist with PJ Harvey. One of them was in Spleen. Both of them create music that eats your heart out and makes you wonder how it's happened. Years have gone into it, this is not 4 track lo-fi, this is not garage rock, this is not throwaway toys out of the pram screaming. This is music. Sounding like Yann Tiersonn and Steve Reich, a touch of Warp / Fat Cat / Leaf style electric manipulation, guitars with pianos, Steven Hawkins style voices clanging with deep oozing drawls. This music is from the heart of the West Country, unsullied by city trends.
Reigns have now had sessions with Huw Stephens show on Radio One, The Garden of Earthly Delights and Resonance FM.
"This is highly evocative music, with cinematic aspiration, yet, Reigns refrain from grandiose soundscapes and sweeping melodies, preferring instead to craft each sound, each note, each tone to keep full control on the emotional landscape of their compositions." The Milk Factory
"Call this music folk, electronica, whatever you like – the fact of the matter is that there won’t be a better release of its kind all year, and that’s the opinion culled from many, many listens." Mike Diver - Drowned In Sound
