Once got in trouble for dissing VOXTROT's
muddled thrift shop anglophile kleptomania.
And I didn't really go mad for their music either but boy I dig the
depth & melodic intelligence on this new double pack 7"/CD
EP, 'Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives' It's pretty smoothly
recorded which irritates me but the
lead song has one of those flowing multi segment exiting things about
it. If it were done on an 8 track it'd be flooring. Other songs (3 on
the 7", 4 on the CDs, are airy jangly indie with a freshness that does
them a service. I think they could be put into a similar bracket as
The Cloud Room as their take on English all-eras britpop & indie has a kind of classy American college sheen to it. Good stuff!
