What their label says...

From Locusts brilliant Wooden Guitar series comes another terrific release tailor-made for aficionados of the acoustic guitar. Steffen Basho-Junghans discovered the steel-string musings of the revered Takoma catalog (Fahey, Basho, Kottke, etc.) as a young man living on the eastern side of the Berlin wall. And while that particular brand of Americana is certainly the most obvious jumping-off point for his own wandering style, he has plenty character of his own to interject. Clocking in at just under one hour, Last Days of the Dragons plays like a subdued fairy tale making its way through various passages of hypnotically introspective six- and twelve-string fingerpicking. Basho-Junghans has an uniquely fluid sense of pacing that gives the album a sense of ease and precision often lost in more long-form guitar explorations. Each piece opens gradually, building complex harmonics, rolling arpeggios and even sliding into some bluesy slide action here and there. For fans of the Takoma tradition as well as the new school: Jack Rose, James Blackshaw et al.
