Also on Highpoint Lowlife, Mr. Sideboard's all encompassing cracker of a label, is an album from the other side of the tracks by
MANDELBROT SET.
They deliver some pretty sublime post rock that makes me feel that that
genre hasn't been exhausted by loads of tedious chin stroking dullards
over the years. This is spine tingling & quite heavy, harking back
to the days when
Explosions, Godspeed & Mogwai
tore your head off with brooding bass, flailing drums & cascading
barrels of molten feedback. Oh yes, the opener on here is beefy as
fuck. Further investigation (for I am Sherlock, no shit) reveals
playful depths & impressive melodic nous, even taking some sublime
banjo into the mix to make this the best so called "post-rock" album
I've checked for a fair while. Great thought provoking chart/map of
global oil production/consumption comparables included too if yr a
burgeoning politico activist.
