The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble is the project of Jason Kohnen, a.k.a. Bong-Ra
and sometime collaborator Gideo Kiers. This really does what it says on the
packet. Its refreshing to see that these artists aren't one dimensional and just
churning out breakcore fodder for the sake of it like so many of their
contempories. The Jazzy percussion and breakbeats on here are super cool. This
is what you'd wished Squarepusher's 'Music Is rotted One Note' had
sounded like had he not gone all twiddly-widdly. If you dug Venetian Snares
'Moonglow' on Addict or the Bong-Ra remixes of the afforementiond
Canadian bear beat mangler then get on this album. Kohenen is a top bass player
and the programming is really well done as Kiers takes care of the Max /
Msp action for those computer geeks amongst you that care about that stuff.
