Quite like this new Islands CD too. Us & a handful of fellow indie
strugglers have kindly been given a pre release advance on a ltd number of
copies as it doesn't properly come out till may 8th. Featuring some survivors from
The Unicorns, and featuring some Arcade Fire members on around
7 tracks. They share some of the epic, widescreen tendencies of the
aforementioned with the sprawling opener morphing into several different
beasts as it takes it's long, tripped out journey to who knows where. It's good
stuff but I do find my mind wandering a little as I prefer my music harnessed
into little easily digested nuggets of pop or hypnotic repetitive head rushes.
There's some psych-pop pastiche on here that reminds me very much of some of the
Elephant 6 bands. Also should well appeal to the folk who dug that Matinee
Orchestra album. All in all, a lush & accomplished sounding work. WE
WILL NOT GET ANY MORE TILL MAY WHEN THESE HAVE GONE! BEWARE! On Gruff Trade
of Lahndan Taaahn.
