Swedish electro pop classisists don't come better than The Knife. Can I just say I didn't rate 'Deep Cuts', the last album AT ALL as i found it too sickly, twee & commercial. Even containing 'Heartbeats' as brought to worldwide acclaim by one Mr. Gonzalez didn't mask it's cheesy stench. 'Silent Shout', the new collection is a far darker & more experimental beast. Totally accessible whilst really pioneering & occasionally left field, it harks back to the alien pop soundscapes of their debut. That wide-eyed, oriental flecked crystaline pulse that I found so thrilling is back. This is the kind of music I relish putting on to totally relax to. If you can imagine an icy cross between Propaganda & Ladytron stranded high on a piste at the pinnacle of the world, surrounded by twinkling stars with barely the minimum amount of oxygen.
