Blimey! Jocks Mogwai seem to be doing well for themselves, I seen them on
telly the other week. I think they're a good example of how an independent
artist can become successful and leap out of the underground without selling out
and compromising their sound. The wait is over for the 'Mr Beast' album after
the 'Friend of The Night' single and you lot are gonna lap it up cos there's a
limited edition CD/DVD set which features a documentary on the making of the
album. Just when you thought they'd gone soft they go back to their roots with
some fuzzed out riffs and proper layers of rich guitar noise. There's still a
wee bit of that gorgeous piano and that but this is more like the earlier sound.
A melancholy sonic assault produced by Tony Doogan in hardback gatefold digi-pak
with lovely artwork by Amanda Church. On 2LP as well...
