Something I got terribly excited about this week is/was (past/
present??? god knows...) the Matinee Orchestra LP/CD on Arable. Firstly I
must
tell you about the rimmingly good packaging for the LP. Your LP is wrapped in
thick cardboard with a felt tip coloured in sleeve and it's all stitched up at
the sides like I had to be after seeing the Brit awards the other week. Oh and
the vinyl is limited to just 200 copies. Musically it's a right old bag of dolly mixtures
making me think of The Books with hints of Olivia Tremor Control, ie 60's psych
pop with some wierd electronics and some really crazy song structures/ ideas.
Absolutely glorious and it really doesn't sound like anything else I've heard
this week which is always a bonus. Lovely...
