One hugely hyped album from Clap Your Hands Say
Yeah has just crashed landed into the office & goddamn all you
hysterical media muppets, it doessound rather wonderful. If you
dig The Chills, Cocteau Twins, Bob Dylan, early James (when they were
trancendental), The Smiths/Sundays, The Velvet Underground & Talking Heads (especially
Byrne's yearning, yelpy vocals) then this magical eponymously titled opus is the
album you should invest yr meagre earnings in. I can't adequately describe how
these spine tingling, moving & delicate songs affect me properly (only
listening for the second time - Thank you to Pinnacle for not ever sending us any
decent promos!!) but they sound a like a precious amalgamation of a whole bunch
of classic bands. Yet they've achieved that 1 important goal. Be inspired by
your influences but don't totally wear 'em on yr sleeve. These songs are fresh
& timeless sounding and this is going home with me. Stuff any nu-Arcade
Fire/cosmic Americana waffle you may read. These guys are in a league of
their own. LP/CD on Wichita
