Right. Stop what you are doing I have an announcement to make. This
folk thing has gone too far. What I have here in my mind is the proof. Its by Nancy
Wallace who has a very nice voice and the songs are beautifully arranged
with acoustic guitar and wandering violin. The problem is that they are covers
of old disco songs. Ok 'Young Hearts Run Free' is a great song and there's no
bigger fan of Chic's 'At Last I'm Free' than yours truly (a song
virtually un-ruinable)- but do we really need folksy covers of said tunes.
Well I don't anyway. And the Elton John cover is a hanging offence.
What is is with freaking Elton John anyway? Name a good Elton John
song - go on - I can only think of 'Passengers'. The final track is
a Barry White song. OK Ok its not the worst record I've ever heard and
there's a certain novelty to hearing the songs performed in this way.
