Magic and will be delighted to learn that they have a new album out
on what is perhaps their spiritual home, 4AD. It has lots of guests
on it, Tarwater, Simon Raymonde (Cocteau Twins), bloke from
The Czars etc etc. Collaboration eh? It’s the new write-the-songs-yourself.
Anyway it’s really dark and has some big sounding drums on the first
track. Big and rock. Phil has woken from his slumbers to shout out Mogwai
crossed with Dead Can Dance. So there you go. Next track is
completely different, twinkly but dark. All very interesting… For
those with long memories it’s like a This Mortal Coil for
the new millennium. Writers Without Homes is CD only
