God almighty. If ever there was a band who summed up John Peel even better
than the mighty Fall it were lovable Scouse scoundrels Half Man Half
Biscuit. The deadpan satire & rambling, shambling paeans to everything
laughable & crap in the world of entertainment have kept us in mirth for 2
decades now so I'm delighted to inform the more clueless amongst you of a new CD
album, 'Achtung Bono' I only have the 3 track sampler in my possession but at
least 2 numbers are a joy. "Joy Division oven gloves" &
"We built this village on a trad. arr tune" reek of chip shop class
& Mersey cynicism. Great lyrics even if the music doesn't quite have the lo-fi
wonky charm of yore (what ever DID they do with that angry wasp keyboard?) Nice!
