Tarwater have been around a fair while and released several records.
They are now on Morr after City Slang got eaten by a nasty major. The
main problem I have with Tarwater now is the guy's voice which has
appeared on so many records always sounds so bored. I suppose cool German
deadpan is the intention but to me he sounds bored. As with most bands they are
best when they write songs rather than just rely on clever programming.
Therefore the opener 'Across the Dial' is a fairly neat affair with some lovely
slabs of guitar. The rest of the album doesn't quite live up to it but
there are some pleasant moments. For the uninitiated think guitars and squelshy
synths mixed together.
