Clint here. So it seems that after the death of Elliott Smith his legend just
grows and grows. Eventually there'll be loads of tribute CD's, people recreating
lost songs etc. But was anyone really bothered when 'Figure 8' came out a few
years ago? ......not really but that's what death does to you. Anyway first out
the traps is ex Zwan/Slint/Papa M guy David Pajo with a new LP under his own
name Pajo. It sounds like Elliott Smith. Exactly. The vocals are near
identical -like that guy in The Grumbleweeds who used to impersonate
Jimmy Saville. The only difference really is that there's some electronics plonked on
top of a couple of songs. Its not a bad album by any means - nice acoustic
guitar pickings, decent songs but the enjoyment of it is kind of spoilt by
the thought of someone sitting down and calculatingly ripping off a dead man. On
Domino.
