Hello everyone. First up Malcolm Middleton. Him of Arab Strap. This is his new album as praised to high heavens by Mojo, Uncut etc. Not totally sure why, although it is perfectly competent pop/rock with a heavy Scottish accent. Lots of confessional words and  "you feckin' c**ts" type rants so he obviously shares the same pissed/pissed off world view as the other Arab Strap feller. The music however veers from indie rock bursts (ie the single 'Loneliness Shines' or the Folk Implosion like 'No Modest Bear') to more miserable Pogues like swayathons like 'Devastation'.  It's much much more upbeat than his last album and bears hardly a resemblance to it at all.
