I think that now Peelie has gone, we're going to have to attempt
to describe stuff even more accurately, to write about unheard of bands with
even greater aplomb - starting from now!!. First beneficiaries of this new found
enthusiasm are Dreamend on Graveface records. The sleeve is absolutely wonderful
- sepia tinted photographs - piece of a negative - snow bound photo
on the back. Lovely. The first track starts out Low-ish and gets noisy half way
through. The quiet bits sound great - lovely female singer- the noisy bits
are slightly less convincing.. The second track is a fabulous slice of post rock
that sits firmly between the Mogwai and Explosions in the Sky camps. The third
track is pure exubarant noise. Its not an even album - it jumps about
between peaceful guitar atmospherics to all out noise but not in the quietly
getting louder thing that the post rock bands do. Its all juxtaposed in a far
more interesting manner. I'd say Low meets Galaxie 500 meets Explosions in the
Sky as your snappy soundbite.
