The High Llamas. Probably the best band in the world. Well maybe thats a bit over the top but I've always loved the music that springs from these sprightly Londoners. We have a retrospective 2xCD here that features a kind of best of CD and another CD thats full of rarities/ instrumentals. The prime influence here is Brian Wilson and his Beach Boys and if you like their Cabinessence song then you've come to the right place as the High Llamas managed to stretch that sound over five albums. The geniuses. Lots of banjo's, strings, piano's and squiggly sounds on display. Also file under: Steely Dan, Teenage Fanclub, Van Dyke Parks, Stereolab and Glen Campbell.
