Mi Ami. There. Got yer going now ain't I. These scratchy dub-punk Friscans concoct a tasty, caustic, highly rhythmical stew indeed. This new album, like the preceding singles on Thrill Jockey, is largely composed of pretty full-frontal journeys into visceral borderline psychosis, channeled through the raw new wave era energy typical of outsider legends This Heat & 23 Skidoo, this frantic pulse is then blended with strong shades of classic psych wig-outtery - typical of their melting pot of a "hometown". Then on 'Latin Lover' I also sense a much more freaked & unhinged re-telling of the NY punk-funk explosion of a generation ago, but this time the infectious grooves have spit, blood & spiky bits sticking off them & the singer sounds like a complete gibbering nutter having a schizo battle with his invisible dead sister. This band are really quite something special, not afraid to go all languid & trippy on 'Dreamers' before erm...Stealing Your Face all over again. Bloody wonderful!
