A few words from Mr Dag Rosenqvist.
Back in the spring of 2007 I released a series of 3” CD-r’s. Harrisburg, D+A EP and Pilgrims. They were all hand made and ridiculously limited. I think the first two were made in an edition of 75 and then I made about 100 copies of Pilgrims. Harrisburg sold out in a matter of weeks, D+A EP in a few days. Pilgrims lasted all the way into summer only to eventually end up being sold out too.
Ever since then I’ve been getting a lot of e-mail regarding these releases. People asking me if I had any spare copies left, if there were any place I knew of where they could still be available or if there were any plans for a second edition. Some even tried to persuade me to sell my own copy…
So I started thinking about maybe re-releasing those ep’s as a collection, because in my mind they have always been like different chapters of the same book. But I decided that, in order for me to get really excited over this project, I needed to do something more than just re-releasing the ep’s. I started contacting artists whom I respect and whose music I love, asking them if they’d be interested in working with me on this project. The idea was simple: To let every artist do a remix or an alternative version or a cover or whatever they felt like doing, of the original track. The artists were given total creative freedom to do as they pleased with the track. No restrictions, no boundaries and no rules.
Doing a remix album is an attempt to look at things from a slightly different angle: To give old songs new life and to let them evolve into something else. I am of course aware that this concept is not new, there are plenty of remix albums out there. But I do think that what we have collectively achieved here is a coherent body of work that flows almost seamlessly and where each track, while still maintaining each artists unique creative identity, acts as equal parts of the album, making this release sound more like an actual album rather than a collection of remixes. I hope you appreciate what we’ve done here. I think I can speak for everyone involved in this when I say that we are mighty proud of these tracks and we hope that you will like them too.
On this album you will find an extended version of the track The Glow Of Minerals. This is the way it was originally supposed to be if not for the time restrictions of a 3” CD. You will also find a track called A Voice From Dead Radio that is something quite special indeed. A Voice From Dead Radio consists of elements from every track of the album. Compiled by Cameron Webb, perhaps better known as Seaworthy, this is a simply stunning track and this amazing, massive chunk of music also acts as a closer for the album and as such it does a mighty fine job to say the least. You do not want to miss this out on this one.
Oh, and did I mention Zelienople is doing a 16 minute cover version of the track Harrisburg pt.2…
