Time for some proper cosmic psychedelic spuzzle from Phil Todd. Immediately this doesn't feel as rough around the edges as I was expecting. The synths sound super icy and crystal like, most likely a refection of the bloody harsh winter weather experienced around the time of recording. This certainly feels like a more personal/ soulful album than many previous releases. Generally it's really chilled until we reach 'You'd Look Good As A 5 Pound Note' which really goes for it with a super crunchy drum machine rhythm and huge swirls of guitar and effects. Digipak with cool artwork.

Sound clips for The Beak Stuck Out of The Snow by Ashtray Navigations: on CD at Norman Records UK. CD, Memoirs Of An Aesthete, n/a, £9.99.
New Ashtray recordings from icy Yorkshire, December 2009-January 2010. More in the vein of last year's much-loved "Johnny Fuckoff Minotaur" disque than anything, with the famous exploding fuzzball drum machine, glacial mellotron/synth duelling and firecracker guitar runs. Also, the vintage 1960s "Top Gear" fuzz pedal which appeared on only the very earliest Ashtray Navigations recordings has been fixed so you can hear it snarl once more. A more reflective, melodic Ashtray Navigations than you usually get with this one, with a distinct winter feel which should hold out until at least July. Hopefully we'll have sold them all by then. Hope you like it.
