As an old Delgados fan, I'm quite chuffed to see the return of Emma Pollock - after a brief stint with 4AD, she's now back at home on Chemikal Underground with a largely superb new album. The sound is fleshier & more dynamic than her previous solo outings, sounding a little more reminiscent of mid period Delgados! The songs are often melodically muscular, technically rockier & well rounded. Guitars and bass spiral, ascend, descend & murmur, seemingly entwining & dancing around your ears whilst the drums on many tracks are deliciously tumbling & fluid. All this topped with Emma's sensual Scots burr which over the years has matured into quite a formidable vocal range! The more ballad-y songs slot seamlessly in amongst the stripped back, darker indie rock gems, making this album a wonderfully formed triumph from one of Lanarkshire's most overlooked talents. Liking it LOTS.

A darker, more intense album than her debut, ‘The Law Of Large Numbers’ has been seen by many publications as a considerable leap forward from her solo debut.
