What their label says...

The Loungs follow their critically acclaimed debut with 40 minutes of blistering, sunny guitar pop. "Unusual sounding indie music laced with killer melodies" Clash Magazine. The Loungs are JTL - Jamie The Loung (mostly guitar and vocals), WTL Wills The Loung (mostly keys and vocals), NTL - Neil The Loung (mostly bass and vocals), DTL - Dan The Loung (mostly guitars) and GTL - Gaz The Loung (mostly drums). This, their second album, written, recorded, produced, designed and released themselves sees them venture closer to the line of where Pop meets Psychedelia without the faintest whiff of patchouli oil in the air. Following the release of their critically acclaimed 2007 debut We Are The Champ, The Loungs found themselves recording a session for Huw Stevenss BBC Radio 1 show at Maida Vale; playing Glastonbury, Wychwood, Lounge on The Farm, Beatherder and Bestival amongst a host of other festivals of varying quality and temperatures and being on the soundtrack to BBC1s prime-time-teen-dross-drama Waterloo Road. Big Wow takes its inspiration from Woody Allen films, gang mentality, comet girls, heartbroken robots, sea-shells, kazoos, space travel, sharing gig tickets and cigarettes with friends, a baseball bat named 'Gretyl', band rivalry, confused physicists receiving messages about the future of the world by phone, powered down toys, Laurel and Hardy and last but not least, the fun to be had sitting in a field on a beautiful sunny day listening to your favourite bands whilst blind drunk. It also sees The Loungs more experimental and in some places more melancholy than on We Are The Champ but sees that theyre still happiest when making songs you can dance to. The Loungs formed Fresh Hair Records with Andy Bowes, (owner of Catalyst Studios, St Helens where The Loungs record and practice) and the learning curve of how to go about forming a label as well as producing videos (of varying quality; ranging from crap all the way down to piss-poor) for each and every track, means that Big Wow is somewhat belated in coming about. But late as it may be its still the perfect sound to the British summer, and lasts about as long. The Loungs' debut album We Are The Champ had widespread critical acclaim and was described as "Joyous" (Uncut Magazine), "Gloriously rowdy" (Q Magazine) "One of the most exhausting but enjoyable 34 minutes you'll spend listening to music this year" (NME) and "The best thing to come out of St.Helens since the East Lancs road' (The Word) expect the same with the new album with press in all key papers.
