Next up on the old ears is Zoey Van Goey's 'The Cage Was Unlocked All
Along' CD on the Left In The Dark label. This Glasgow band create indie
pop with a tiny smattering of folk. This isn't really my thing but in
terms of this stuff it's fairly high quality and they're clearly a
talented bunch of musicians who play drums, drum machines, acoustic and
electric guitars, pedals, Microkorg, Electribe EA-1, piano, viola,
banjo, dulcimer, pump organ, loops and samples, xylophones,
tambourines, sleigh bells, shakers, coffee mugs, fingar cymbals,
vocals, fake mellotrons, fake celeste, real Casios and giraffe necks
(well all except the last one which I added to the list myself). The
vocals are a mixture of boy girl with some intelligent and quirky
lyrics.
