Oh my god speaking of neo classical style music heres the new one from Panoptique Electrical. This is the solo work of Jason Sweeney of Pretty Boy Crossover. The first Panoptique Electrical album was a wonderful mix of La Bradford style drones and Hauschka style treated piano. This new one 'Yes to Fear, Yes to Desire' is more of the same. The instruments have a big echoey sound with lots of reverb as if the whole thing is being played in a big old church. The main instruments used are piano's and viola/cello like sounds. The work of Stars of the Lid is brought to mind but although this is somehow a little bit more expansive than their introspection but really that is the closest comparison. The drones are simply beautiful and perfectly weighted. Everything builds at just the right pace and the album seems on first listen to be varied enough to keep the interest up even on a busy friday lunchtime when this kind of music sometimes can fade into the background. I'd highly recommend fans of the afore mentioned bands or those along the Max Richter/Yann Tiersen spectrum give this one a try.
