Here's a fine CD on Under The Spire by Tom White. He's a new name to me. I know of people called Tom and I know of people with White in their name but never has their been a Tom White. It's always great when a new name comes along. It's one of their uber limited (100 only) Arigato Pak jobs, all hand stamped and hand numbered with nice colour artwork inside. Very tasty indeed. A Well Known Phrase is a good 30 minutes of ambient electronic hazy sounds which stroll along gently in your head until it's finished when it's time to whack it on again. It's surprisingly more-ish for what currently seems to be a saturated genre. It's very lovely indeed... Mr White has a clear ear for melody as underneath the layers of clicks, drones, fuzz and whatnots there's some delightful melodies kicking around. Fans of Fennesz etc will like this I reckon. well nice!!

Next up on Under The Spire is a pretty special EP/mini-album by Tom White. Its a definate progression from his first EP, ‘Sight See’ (which is avaialble now from Smallfish) with longer, more focused pieces.
