Rain-Cloud are responsible for the new Under the Spire CDr thang and from the off 'Kerala' has me hankering for a quiet shady spot in some woods, lying in a hammock with a cold bottle of hoegaarden to my lips watching squirrels & foxes bez around doing their woodland creature thing. Shimmering ambience, emotive guitar chimes, fluttering runs of static, ponderous drone, thought provoking primitive percussion & murky acoustic folk passages all have a profound impression on these hairy, flappy lugs 'o mine within the first 3 tracks. A well rounded collection of atmospheric sound design & with some gentle folk touches, another winner from th' Spire!

Sound clips for Kerala by Rain Cloud: on CD at Norman Records UK. CD, Under The Spire, spire005, £8.79.
on the heels of spire004 will be Kerala by Rain-Cloud. Lush, hazy, guitar based soundscapes from Dom Dixon (talkingmakesnosense) and Alec Cheer (umm, Cheer). You can check out a track on the UTS myspace page for a taster, the whole album is absolutely gorgeous from beginning to end. Released in Stumptown 4 panel with the usual inkstamp/embossing/numbering (I’m nothing if predictable). Insert on photographic paper of Alec’s artwork (see below). 100 copies for the whole wide, cruel world.
